About Darragh
Darragh McDonald is a local councillor representing the Gorey area of North Wexford.
Elected to Wexford County Council for the first time in June 2024, he advocates for the delivery of housing, roads transport safety and community facilities across North Wexford, focusing on practical, fix-it-now issues that affect day-to-day life for residents and the efficient use of council resources.
Born and raised in Gorey, he attended Gorey Central School and Gorey Community School. He has represented Ireland internationally in swimming, winning gold at the London 2012 and silver at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
Alongside his public role, Cllr. McDonald works in finance. He is a qualified accountant and is a graduate of UCD with a Degree in Commerce and the Open University with a Masters in Business Administration. He has also served as a voluntary director with a number of national and local organisations, including the Asthma Society of Ireland, the ISPCA, the Disability Federation of Ireland and the Gorey Community Development Group.
